Where I stayed
Jenni arrived on Saturday September 4th. I was excited. We spent the first evening eating dinner across the street and then sat by the pool that evening and talked. The next day we rented a car and explored the flea market. It wasn't quite what we were expecting, but definitely an experience. That evening we all went to Howl at the Moon, a piano bar. We met Alisha and her husband here (one of Jenni's and my friend from high school). It was quite the show. The next day (Monday) we decided to check out Galveston Island. It is located on the Gulf. There we went to moody gardens and after that decided to check out Kemah Boardwalk. Kemah Boardwalk had many different rides, restaurants, and shops.
We have a few different restaurants and strip malls around our area in Houston, called the energy corridor. Right across the street is a nice little sports bar and grill. We met a nice server there, he was very attentive. Also, next door is a place called the Derrek Tavern. The Derrek Tavern is named after the oil culture around this area, being the energy corridor and all. Down the street we also have a Walgreen's, a place we stop at often when we take walks with Wrigley. One other restaurant that had very good sushi was Rattan, an Asian Bistro and Wine bar.
We still spend a lot of time grilling out by the pool here. That is the nice thing about this hotel, the location is further away from many things...however the hotel is much better. Here we have a pool, grille area, free laundry, work out room, free breakfast, and dinner on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. There is a Kroger down the road so we like to pick up some meats and vegetables and grill out on nights when dinner is not provided.
They also have a dog park here. It is not as busy as the one in Dallas, but it is closer to our apartment. Wrigley and I went there Sunday. I also went to Barnes and Nobel Sunday and picked up 5 discount books, my favorite :) Adam is in Phoenix right now at a meeting with his company and arrives in late tonight. I started my Spanish language DVDs. You don't realize how important knowing Spanish is until you live in the South. Anyway, I've wanted to work on that for a while and that starts today.
Last week I did a promotion for Zip-lock. I spent the afternoons with a team of 5 girls looking for people eating lunch outside. If they were found brining their lunch from home they received a $25 dollar visa gift card from zip lock to use anywhere. Adam has a lot of kickoffs and blitzes this week for work. He hired a man named Jeff for the Houston Territory.
OOOOHHHHH....how could I forget. Houston has an awesome Packer Bar called Nicks Sports bar. When you arrive there is a sign out front that says Packer fans welcome. There are tons of cars in the parking lot with packer license plates, packer flags, and the like. Once you enter they are have a buffet line with cheese, chili, sauerkraut, brats, and all you can drink beer. Its not as good as in WI though. Adam and I ordered a pizza :) They have quite the pre-game. There is a lot of Packer music and they say the Wedge of allegiance. Needless to say, they are very supportive!
Anyway, the plan for the next few days is to work. Adams doing fund raising things all week, and then I have a promos all weekend. We do have something planned for Sunday though...Details to come :)
