Today we decided to say good-bye to Krabi town. Last night had one crazy wind storm, banging our bathroom door around, as well as other things outside. We crawled out of bed, packed and checked out of Chan Cha Lay Guesthouse at around 9am. The lady at the reception told us we could catch a songthaew across the street to Ao Nang. One soon arrived and we hopped in, fortunately it wasn't full of people. The ride went down the main highway through an area that looked like it was out of Jurassic Park, vines and cliffs all around. Very beautiful. After about a 20 minute ride we arrive at Ao Nang beach town. The songthaew pulled over and we got out. We had scouted some places to stay on the internet, but hadn't booked anything. So we headed up the road away from the beach to a resort we were interested in. They had a vacancy and a stay 3 nights pay 2 special. So I went and took a look at a room, it seemed like a good deal. While I was looking at the room, a guy from Toronto and his wife were checking out and he noticed we were from Canada

"Massage Alley" along the beach.
. So he had a short conversation with Jes about their stay in Ao Nang and Railay. They said we have to go to the Phi Phi islands, it was as beautiful as everyone says. We'll do that in a couple days. We were able to check in right away and settled in a bit. We thought we would go find some breakfast and walk around. We stopped in at the restaurant next door and had some quick breakfast. We continued down the road toward the beach. There were quite a few tailors around, all trying to be Jes' friend. We scouted some massage places, prices are pretty good. We looked at a few shops, but things were "tourist" prices. We arrived at the beach, when a young woman came up to us with a price list for massages along the beach. We told her that we were going to walk around, so maybe another time. She asked if she could just show us where they were located. She told me how her family has been massaging for 21 years and she learned from her parents then went to school. Her Aunt was babysitting a little English boy, so she had just been to pick up some food for him. After a walk to the end of the beach we came to an area with huts full of massage beds. I think the numbered huts went up to the 20's, so many massage places. Theirs was number 8. During our walk the wind had started to pick up a lot. She told us to come in out of the wind, which then got stronger. People on the beach were trying to grab all their things from blowing away and find cover. We figured we might as well get a foot massage while we waited

. The price was right at 200 THB. It turned out to be the best foot massage I've had so far. It was nice to relax after having to haul our packs this morning. We thought we would walk along the beach after the massage. There is a large limestone cliff at the end of the beach separating Ao Nang beach from Railay beach, which you can only get to by long tail boat. The water was pretty rough today, so there weren't any long tail boats around. We then walked back to the road and continued back to the resort. We were feeling a craving for Mc Donald's, not good I know, but once an a while its okay. It was probably the cleanest McD's I've ever been in. We went back to the room after our binge and lazed a bit. Around 4 pm we thought we would try to find a laundry place that was on our map. We walked and walked but no laundry place. We figured we'd backtrack and looked for somewhere to eat. The Indian was way over priced so we skimped out and got pizza. After dinner we walked around a bit more. We played some connect four while we people watched at a small restaurant. We decided we were ready to call it a night, but picked up a banana pancake on the way back to the resort. I think we'll hit up some of the Thai food we saw tomorrow. We might rent a bike tomorrow too, explore a bit. Ciao for now!Zoë
