Today we leave to Guilin. We're both feeling better, though I did cough up a lung this morning, so I'm not feeling too hot in the stomach area now. Its amazing how coughing can make you nauseous if you do it enough. After a liquid breakfast, we checked out of Sim's guesthouse and hopped in our paid ride to the airport. The security in Chengdu was much more thorough, they waved the wand over everyone, as well as padded you down. Everyone at security was pretty friendly too, so that was nice. Our flight boarded two hours later at 12:10. We flew with Air China again and again it was very cramped, but the flight was only half full and we had a three seat row to ourselves, so I was able to move over to give Jes some leg room. It was such a quick flight! They served us dumpings and a beverage or two, then we were landing! We had arranged a pickup again though our hostel. Jerry, who drove us, was very conversational and speaks excellent english. He is a travel agent and also works for the hostel, he has been doing it for 12 years now, he is 29

2 Pagodas
. Very friendly guy! We got to the inn and we were taken up to our room first to settle a bit, then we came downstairs to pay our deposit and first night. Jerry also talked with us about what tours we would like, we decided to book the Li River tour for tomorrow and the Dragons Backbone rice terraces in Longsheng for the following day. Our hostel has only three rooms in it and has a very central location, its quiet and nice. Kind of a good break from a bustling hostel. We decided to walk around to find a place to eat. There are a couple of pagodas across the lake from our inn which are lit up at night, as well as the whole lake. It is a very pretty walk! We found the main pedestrian walking street and found a western café. Since I hadn't really eaten much over the last few days we thought we'd play it safe. Rosemary's is the place, I got a nice tomato soup and salad, Jes got lasagne, which was very yummy! We walked around a bit after dinner, it seems there is quite a bit of market stalls around, probably because tourism is Guilins main industry. We were pretty beat, so we walked back to our place and lounged a bit. We have to get up bright and early for our tour at 8am. Chao for now!Zoe
