Even though my amazing tour guide seems to have come down with the flu (where's a z-pack when you need one???), things here have been amazing.  Yesterday we showered and motivated ourselves into the 30 degree weather and headed to Old Town.  We walked the Charles Bridge, saw the Jewish Quarter (i chose not to take pictures of the cemetery - it seemed right), and then headed to the astronomical clock.  I took video of the clock chiming the hour - death rings a bell.  You'll understand when you see the video :)

In one of the Christmas Markets we visited we had a baked apple.  While you may thing, yeah - whatever - a hot baked apple with cinnamon, raisins, rum and sugar in 30 degree bone chilling weather is VERY awesome.  PJ had medovina (hot honey liquor), i opted for the less alcohol version of a hot chocolate.

We came back and had lunch in one of the local pubs.  We got potato soup (not like our version) and got a salad.  My salad ended up being very fresh chopped vegetables under a pound of dressing.  I did my best to rescue some of the veggies and discarded the rest.  PJ wasn't looking so good at this point so we headed back to the flat.  I took a nap and PJ rested.

Later that evening we went to a train station bar.  apparently it had been covered in USSR propaganda but it had all been taken down by the time i walked in.  the walls are now a lovely shade of peach.  PJ was devastated.  After a beer there we went to another pub to meet up with Lee (PJ's flatmate).  I got a first-hand look at what happens when bartenders do not exercise their right to cut people off from alcohol.  Lots of loud, kissing, arm wrestling folk.  Then, i had to try some shot.  I forget what it's called but it smelled a little like nutmeg and that's where the pleasantness ended.  YUCK.  but i drank a little anyway. :)

OK, i have to get dressed and ready for our next adventure.  bye!!
