Gees how much do I hate technology?! I hv just spent the last 11/2 hrs typing this updated blog on Chelsea's tiny iPod(much to her disgust)to just hv had the whole blurb erased, boom, disappeared, gone into cyberspace, who the $&@:; knows ?!SO now I hv to start all over again!Seeing as it's after 11pm and I've been going to sleep at 8-9pm(what else do you do on the trek?)this will now be a shortened version of what I wrote!(I prob rambled on too much anyway)
Well what took 9 days to reach(getting to EBC)we did in 3 on the return.Thats certainly not to say it was a doodle coming back! There were still plenty of up and downhill parts and the downhill bits over rocks were really hard on our knees..ESP since Neal and I hv had 5 knee ops b/n us! Thank god we all had walking poles...when the time comes for me to hv to rely on them permanently(which after this trek will be sooner rather than later!) I know I'll be a whizz at using them!
We covered over 50kms in 3 days with 6-7hr of walking each day and when you consider how shrimpy Chels is she has prob done twice the distance! If we're not fit by now we never will be!There was no whingeing no tantrums, they just got on with it. When I asked Chels what she liked about the trek she said..the walking! For those that had visions of me standing behind them with a whip and forcing them to continue it couldn't hv been far the opposite... They both truly got into the zone of enjoying the beauty around them and getting lost in their own thoughts.

We saw avalanches ,glacier lakes, the famous Khumbu icefall, walked across the glacier, watched the porters carrying up to 60+kg of goods on their backs often with sandals or well worn shoes. There will be plenty of memories etched in their minds. The vast array of people we hv met has also enhanced out trip and both kids hv developed confidence talking with so many diff adults.

Today we will visit the orphanage and finally meet the kids.Again a huge thank you to all who donated and supported us to contribute to the welfare of these kids. It's another dimension to our trip that will be so fulfilling. For anyone who would still like to donate you can thru www.jesnchels.com.au. We hv it open till end of October..$4500 is getting closer!

Enough of my rambling, can't wait to see everyone although I don't want this journey to end. The kids are looking fed to Thai food,a swimming pool, and shopping!
Thanks to for everyones comments and SMS. Been great knowing people are sharing our journey!

Ciao for now,
