Today our travel continues, as our stay in Holland is kind of a break to catch our breath and recharge. Our destination for tomorrow is Cannes where we will meet up with friends. But our train leaves very very early, so we stay at the airport / station tonight. We chose the Citizen M Hotel again as it is very convenient and cheap.

In the afternoon we set off to Amsterdam, taking the touristic route along the Beemster. I showed Linda Arnold's old company and we made some photos there with the famous ox in the garden. Before heading out we bought a take out dinner from a local toko. Some nice Mi-Hoen Rames Special.

We dropped the rental off at the airport and checked in to the Citizen M, something that takes no more than 2 minutes. The skies cleared up a bit so we thought, why not go in to Amsterdam do some shopping and sight seeing. So we got ourselves an overpriced 2nd class train ticket, and got on the first train that went to Amsterdam Central Station. Of course you could not get any seat on the train so we had to stand by the doors. The Dutch trains did not change much, still dirty and way too full.

Arrived in Amsterdam we walked around a bit, but all shops were closed already, what a world city! The weather turned and it started raining for a short while so we had to hide in a portal. Kind of lost we headed into the China town / red light district to find some food. Linda wanted to make a photo of a nice scenery (not a window!) and we were very unpleasantly surprised. When we took the cap of the camera we found the glass of the filter broken. This must have happened earlier that day when the backpack holding the camera fell off the luggage. So we totally had it with Amsterdam and Holland we headed back to the station, back to the airport plaza. Here we went to a photography store to see if we could take the filter off the camera and replace it with another one, but it was just too stuck. So we ended up having to buy another lens. Luckily our lens is OK, so we will have that fixed when we get back to Hong Kong.

Back at the Hotel, I reheated our dinner in the microwave downstairs. People were wondering where I got this very nice food as the Hotel only sells overpriced sushi and noodles. The microwave filled the lobby restaurant with nice Indonesian food smells. Upstairs we enjoyed our feast with a Heineken. We made it an early night, as we have to catch the seven o clock train to Brussels.
