Where I stayed
At the San Juan airport we met another couple. They have been to the BVI for a number of times and they stayed at Biras as well this time. They got married in the BVI just as we are planning to do, so they recognized the scene of us dragging a wedding dress around, trying to protect it from dirt and inconsiderate AA staff. The four of us got into a Taxi van, and we dropped of the couple at the ferry dock. We had to do some paperwork in 'town' first, so we headed out to Road Town. The name said it all, one road, that is pretty much all of the town.
In town we visited the administration building to file for marriage, and the flower shop to put in our order. We grabbed a little bite at a small Vietnamese snack-bar. All took less than an hour, and we quickly returned to the little harbor from where our ferry would take us to Virgin Gorda.
The boat ride to Virgin Gorda was about half an hour with the speed boat. When we reached the Island we were in awe. The photos do not do it any justice. At the dock, the manager and two general assistants were awaiting us with cocktails. First we were taken on a tour around the island in a golf cart. They showed us all amenities and then brought us to our room, where our luggage was waiting for us.
We relaxed and had a late lunch on our patio. The resort organized drinks (which they do every Monday) for the guests to meet each other and the staff. We met some interesting people at the drinks and shared the usual, where are you from and what are you doing. After drinks and a bit tipsy already, we moved to the dining area where we were served a fabulous dinner. The food at Biras Creek is excellent. I tried a rib eye, and Linda, a Mahi Mahi. Well fed and watered, we retreated to our quarters..
