After a long day of traveling we arrived in Anchorage, the biggest city of Alaska with around 400,000 “Anchoranians”. Life must be harsh down here in winter surrounded by snow covered mountains, and a muddy bay in front of it. We arrived around 21:00 in the evening, but it was still light outside, a cold 11 degrees Celsius and a drizzle of rain, not very inviting weather. But we were glad to arrive in Alaska, as this is the start of our first cruise ever, and the start of our adventure. Even the fact that AA damaged our luggage (they ripped zippers straight off two of the suitcases) could not cloud our excitement. After a short taxi drive with a friendly taxi driver we arrived at our hotel for the night, The Inlet Towers. Our room was decent, not too fancy but functional and the view out of the window was a construction site. Not a Fairmont or Four Seasons, but good enough for the night. We were beat, so after a nice shower in bathtub/shower with an unusual high side, we went to bed.
