After a last hot hectic summer we're packing our bags, selling the furniture and putting boxes and bikes into storage in time for our 19 August departure from Prague. We've both lived here for over three years - enough to know the city well and to be able to say goodbye.
We're off to Kuala Lumpur (just KL for friends), the capital of Malaysia, for at least a year. Marta's company has offered her a job in the KL office which will offer her the chance to manage people in a different setting and culture and to get to know Asia; I'll be able to continue my various writing and editing activities from my PC there (long live internet).
We'll hopefully be able to explore the region a lot, something not helped by the standard 14 days off per year that you get in Malaysia, but at least travel is efficient enough for worthwhile weekend trips - plenty of budget flights and buses to get around with. Beaches, diving, mountains, jungle hikes and city trips are all on the list.
For the first few months we'll be put up at an apartment near her office in central Kuala Lumpur, after that we'll need to find our own pad. Visitors are welcome, so let us know when you're dropping by.
We plan to keep a diary of trips and events here - and you're all welcome to read along. the next entry should be typed from in the tropical heat of KL - look forward to seeing you there.
