Today we went to our final dive site to finish the check out dives to become fully certified.  Unlike the other two sites, these dives were just to swim around and enjoy so the instructors could be satisfied and we get our 5 required dives to obtain a certification card.  Just the opportunity I need to play around with my Olympus 1030 SW underwater digital camera [10 MP and waterproof up to 33 ft].

The Blue Grotto is a really neat dive site, as part of it is enclosed and there is a section that goes down to 100ft.  Additionally they have underwater lights and an air bell at 22 ft that has compressed air pumped in for divers to stop and chat with their buddy.

The first dive of the day the instructor took those who were willing down to the 100ft mark and back.  There wasn't much to see, but the experience of going 100 ft below was pretty intense.  The pressure of the water was not as intense as I thought it would be, but that is a good thing.  I didn't take my camera down on this dive mostly because I did not want to go that far with it turned off.

The second dive we had an Easter Egg hunt, from which I won a scuba shirt from my universities scuba department [with an old date, 2006, and all!].  This time around I took my camera and got to get many good pictures and videos, while some played with a resident turtle, and others shot gunned beer in the air bell.  I ended up taking the camera down to about 57 feet without noticing major problems.  The reviews said that the screen gets a little pressure on it and some buttons become depressed at this depth, and I noticed the same thing.  I could take a picture, but could not change modes or review it.  Once I came up to the 40ish foot mark I had full control over my camera again.  I think the pictures do the talking.

The trip ended with us getting our certification cards and taking a shot of fake champagne out of a scuba mask.  The following morning we had to get up at 3:30 to drive the 15 hours back home.  Some people stayed up and partied, but I crashed just incase I couldn't sleep in the car.
