Day 2
Again, I really didn't want to sleep very much because it is Vegas afterall. Before heading out I stopped at the casino to try my luck on the penny machines. I may have lost $2 but was up a free Jaeger bomb, a great start to the morning. Since we did not go to the North end of the strip on the first day, we decided to hit that this morning.
The first stop was the Mirage, where I would be seeing Cirque du Soleil's "LOVE" the following night. With the exception of the entry-way to the Beatles show and the Revolution lounge there is not very much to the Mirage. With that said, the Beatles entryway is one of the trippiest and most colorful entryways I have seen and is worth going early to play around in for good pictures. Unfortunately the volcano show is being remodeled and wont open until early December
When we were finished at the Mirage we headed down to the Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood which was about $20.5 + tip after taxes. The Spice Market Buffet has a bunch of international stations from seafood, american, mexican, french, middle eastern, etc. The highlight here is a made to order crepe bar, which is quite delicious. My strawberry and blueberry crepe was phenomenal.
After lunch we headed down to Mandalay to hit rumjungle to get my expensive drink. I figured at least once in Vegas I would splurge on an expensive one and decided to get a cherry mojito from the bar that has more than 200 rums on the shelf behind the counter. Of course, it was $13 + tip and was perfection. We took the Deuce down to Mandalay and decided to walk back up since the roads were clogged and the Deuce was going just as fast as walking would.
After that, with more time, we were going to hit the North end of the strip more extensively. First we made a brief stop at Caesar's Forum Shops to check out the Atlantis show, which was cheesy and a waste of time. Think some bad disney world animatronics. After that we hit the Wynn where I lost $5 on slots (boo) but was up a rum and coke. We also briefly stopped at Treasure Island, which is nothing terribly special.
We took a brief rest at the hotel before wandering around the Venetian where we got an Amaretto and Strawberry gelato for $8 and watched one of the live musician performances in St Marks Square. Then we grabbed the Deuce up to the Fremont Street Experience
The Fremont Street Experience is an overpass on downtown Las Vegas that plays shows on the hour after dusk. We stayed for two shows, Born to Be Wild and Ophelia's Dream which were quite amazing considering the overpass spans about 3 city blocks. Between the shows we walked around some of the old casinos like Golden Nugget where I lost $1 on poker but gained an amaretto and coke. A brief ride back to Bellagio and we watched a few fountain shows - My heart will go on, and an Italian opera style song. It started to get windy so they began to cancel the fountain performances.
At this time we were going to go up the Eiffel tower, but of course, it was closed due to high winds. Instead we went to the casino where I sat down at a nickel machine and systematically turned $1 into $25 and got a smirnoff out of the deal as well. At this point I was just about even on bets / drinks after that win. While waiting for the fountains to turn back on I found a 3 cent voucher on a table that was abandoned and bet on a penny machine, which I turned into a dollar. Winner winner, chicken dinner.
Since it appeared the Bellagio shows weren't showing the rest of the night we decided to walk around the inside of Bellagio and Caesars Palace before heading back to the Imperial. My dad and I grabbed one of the late night special breakfast dinners that was a steak, egg, toast and hash browns for $7 plus tip. It tasted like something you would expect that was steak, eggs, toast, and hash browns for $7. We hit the bed around 1:30 before my parents had to get up and leave, and my last full day in Vegas.
