Im still getting adjusted to the food (which is completely different to the Chinese food you get back home) but am coping ok with chopsticks! My placement co-ordinator, Lai Lai, was using them to eat Naan bread!!!
Ive also got to grips with the transport system in that 'the green man' means nothing and cars still go! Today I had my first trip on a rickshaw and closed my eyes the whole way! The driver had no brakes, only a wire in between the 2 wheels which he stood on to slow down, and he seemed to forget that the carriage behind him (where 1 was sat) twice as wide, when dodging through the traffic - yikes!
Another exciting thing today was that after expressing an interest in Development, Lai Lai organised a meeting with Action Aid, who are starting the Make Poverty History campaign and wearing white bands, so Im going to try and get my College involved, on the 16th of Oct there's a world record to 'stand up' against poverty.
Im leaving for Xi'an this evening on a 12 hr overnight train and then Ill be meeting the other VSO vols and possibly going hiking in the mountains!
Its all very exciting so far...look out for more news soon, bye for now, missing you tons!
