Today was a good "at home/family time" day. I woke up at 9am (got to sleep in, yippie!). Breakfast was not on the table; I wasn't sure if it wasn't ready, or if I had slept too late and missed it. So, I just tried to shrug it off and go outside and sit with the family. As I usually am when I don't eat breakfast, I was a bit crabby. I sat in silence...well, I would have sat that way anyway, because they were having a conversation in Fon.

Eventually, I realized breakfast was in the process of being made. We were having avacado sandwiches, instead of the usual bread with Nescafé fake coffee. After I reaized that, I was a little happier. Avacado's are hard to find; someone in the family was probably in Cotonou the day before and brought some back.

After breakfast, I washed my bike. It was SO dirty from the rain we've had lately. My gears are/were broken from the corn stalk incident the other night, so I tried to fix them using the knowledge I had from bike classes.

Cleaning my bike and trying to repair the gears was an all-afternoon process. I was so involved with it that I forgot to eat lunch! Maman had to ask me why I hadn't eaten

After I ate, I worked on my bike some more. I had some troubles getting the gears to shift properly. I got a bit frustrated, but being my stubborn self, I didn't want to give up.

Vince, told me I needed to take a break. Finally, I gave-in and decided to rest for 5 mins. I went back to my bike, worked on it a bit, and finally it started to work better...not perfect, but well enough for me to use. The bike instructor was coming in a few days anyway to do a "tune-up" to everyone's bikes.

After that, I showered (well, bucket bathed), wrote some emails/napped, and went to the Cyber for 2 hours. Came back home, ate dinner, and sat around with the family again.
