After realising travel takes a fair amount of time, we had an early start to head out to Nara to see the tame deer which roam around a temple park. The journey took about an hour but was worth it to feed deer crackers up close - even if i was a bit scared they wud nibble and butt me! What was quite amusing was how as soon as you got money out they were onto you but you could put empty hands up and they would move on to someone else.

We then headed back to Kyoto station to go to Arashiyama to see the bamboo groves. They were really pretty but we didn't stay too long as we were keen to head back to Gion to see if there were any painted Geishas. Plus I got about 4 bites walking through the groves, which added nicely to the one I got the previous night which had swollen up and gone red covering most of my upper thigh! I would have freaked out thinking I had got something nasty but following a similar reaction back In England a week before I decided to just keep applying the bite cream and taking antihistimine(clueless on spelling of that
After sitting around Gion we got some food from our favourite red haired clown and headed back to the hostel to our capsule beds!! Slightly nicer than some as you get into the capsule from the side (rather than head or foot first!) and pull the cover down like your own little room. I thought it would be a little claustraphobic but it was really nice so I would highly recommend!
