As soon as I crossed the border back into India I was assaulted by the noise! I was quietly riding a rickshaw on a road in Nepal, changed my money, got my passport stamped and one minute later I got surrounded by shops, people and horns blowing non stop! Even the flies seem to know which side of the border has greasy food, sweets and garbage for them! What a shock after the calm of the mountains!
Once again I had to stop by in Delhi. I don't do any sightseeing there anymore and every time I come back I spend too much money. Well this time I went overboard, but I had no choice.........
I manage to find a place that would fix my camera lens. I felt a bit worried to have it fix in a shop and not by the actual lens company. What can I do? It's not like I have several options! So I left it there and they of course said they didn't know how long it would take. They had to check what is problem.........
So I went shopping for a new camera. I had already done some research on the internet and had an idea of what I wanted to buy. I did a few shop on Connaught Place, but they want to sell a camera without letting you try it. They won't bother putting batteries in the camera for you to get a try at it! So I went to a market which seems to be the place where expats would shop. There they had the most expensive internet in India with really nice office chairs. I did get to try a few cameras and the guy knew what he was talking about. I bought a Canon S5IS and spent a month of my traveling budget on it. I felt so bad afterwards, just like when I bought my first car. But I wasn't done. I now had to get a bag for it and of course it takes different memory cards and batteries than my other camera so I had to keep spending. I might never work for National Geographic, but I am now walking around with a nice bag that says National Geographic on it!
To relax a bit I had lunch at Subways. The double chocolate cookie was very good...........
