The caves in Ellora were a little bit disappointing.  I have seen so many caves and temples that it takes a lot to impress me now!  The monsoon rain has done a lot of damages on the caves and they are not in great shape.  There are 31 caves, some buddhists, hindus and jains.  There was one hindu cave that was really big and beautiful.

The caves at Ajanta are famous.  They are in better state and some still have paintings on the walls and ceilings.  They were a lot more interesting to visit and you can have a much better idea of the splendor they once had.

I must say I got quite sick (actually the worst time of this whole trip) the first night I arrived in Aurangabad.  I went to a restaurant recommended by the lady at the youth hostel to eat a Gujarati thali.  The place looked really nice with beautiful paintings on the wall and nice Rajastani puppets for decoration. The waiters were dressed in nice colorful uniforms and turbans.  As soon as I sat down, they brought me food.  There is no menu here, and the only thing you can eat is thali which they serve to you from buckets.  That's probably why I got sick.  God knows how this food had been sitting in those buckets and if they are washed or not between refills.  It tasted really good, but my poor stomach suffered for 5 days after that meal and I had to lie down during the day, which I hate especially when travelling.  Luckily, I was alone in the dorm and it was really quiet.
