Where I stayed
. While we were laying there an old guy comes by and asks if we can watch his stuff while he goes swimming. After swimming he decides hes gonna sit with us and keep us company. He seemed nice enough so we obliged and chatted for a little bit. The most annoying thing ever is when this guys tells me that it's so odd that it's raining. The weather has been so nice the last few weeks! I mean seriously?? I must have the Carribean curse or something. This guys owns a house in Manzanillo and comes down for 3 months every year. I couldn't stay in that place for more than a day even if I had a big group with me! He said his name was Chamba or something like that so we nicknamed him Chamba Whamba bc he was a little odd. Coincidentally his house is right across the street from our hotel. Once we were back and getting cleaned up for dinner Anne was sitting outside and he came over and invited us to eat dinner with him at some lil local place. She couldn't bring herself to say no so we got stuck eating dinner with this guy too. Any old gringo living in this town has to be lonely so it was kind of sad and creepy at the same time. At dinner we found out he is actually a medical marijuana grower from California. Dinner was good despite the awkwardness. He followed us to Maxi's for dessert and we were finally able to get rid of him when we headed back to the hotel. But we weren't getting away that easily, he asked for a goodnight hug before we parted ways!! Ughhh, so creepy! Note to future old guys: if young girls are talking to you, 99.9% of the time they are just being polite
. Don't confuse that with they may actually like you. The other .10% are probably Anna Nicole Smiths trying to figure out if you have a lot of money or not! The next day we tried to hike through the park but it was raining a lot and the mosquitos were out in full force so we just headed on to Puerto Viejo. After walking around town we stopped at a bar to have a beer and met this guy from Canada. He said a friend of his put him in contact with a guy who owned an Italian restaurant in town. We had been craving some good Italian food so we invited ourselves to go with him. The place was really cute and the owner was super nice. All of our drinks were on the house and the pizza was half price! After dinner we all went out to the bar on the beach. Even though it rained and my camera didnt work.. again..it was still a good weekend. My phone battery ended up dying as well. Luckily Anne had her camera so I didnt walk away picture less!
My roommate Anne wanted to go to the Caribbean coast so I told her I'd go to Puerto Viejo again since it rained on me last time and I didnt have my camera. As we arrive on the coast I pull out my camera to take some pics and low and behold my camera battery is dead...again! I had used it a little bit that week but the battery didnt seem that low! But this time I had my blackberry with me so I could just use that as my back up, no big deal, at least it wasnt raining... Just as the bus drops us off in Manzanillo it starts pouring down rain!! I don''t understand. Puerto Viejo is my favorite little town. Why doesn't it like me back?? The first night we stayed in Manzanillo which is a place, not so much a town as there is only one main street and it is barely one mile long, 30 min south of Puerto Viejo. I came here last time but just to eat lunch so this time we planned on hiking through the National Refuge. We sat at the one restaurant in town, Maxi's, until it stopped raining and checked into our hotel. It was cloudy but we went to hang out on the beach anyways
