We enjoyed swimming at the beach in front of Roula's restaurant at night and in the morning as the weather was warm and the water a lovely temperature. I found some hermit crabs in shells in the water, which were only too glad to crawl off my warm hand.
The ferry from Glyfa to the island of Evia was a ¾ hour trip. The cars had to be reversed on deck and the attendants as usual, were full of helpful advice on how to reverse very close to the next vehicle. It's all so rush, rush, that I usually get boxed in and have to climb over to the
driver's side of the car to get out. This is now the 15th ferry trip with the vehicles
Lou and Lynn purchased 3 sets of snorkels and masks for the swimming on the island of Evia. We had a slow trip to Achladion Beach as the island was not well sign posted (and the signs were in Greek, strangely enough) and we only covered about 60km this day but enjoyed the day and night at this brightly-coloured-pebbled beach. We were knocked back on our request to park in some, what looked like vacant grassed land by the beach and told we were welcome to stay on the beach if we wanted. Des had fun locking in the hubs while trying to maneuver out of the sand, which turned out to be a piece of cake, and we settled on the side of a narrow Esplanade, tucked into the bank, very close to the road which carried very little traffic.
