Rock of Cashel - Castle
Entry 8 of 142 | show all | print this entry |

We travelled as a 4some from Kit's in Kilmeague to The Rock of Cashel through the beautiful countryside of Ireland with it's typical gorse hedges and rock walls. There's no shortage of stone here so it gets put to good use as a building material in almost everything, even inside shops.
St Patrick's Rock of Cashel was awesome perched on to of the hill overlooking the town, ready and armed against any marauderers. The guided tour helped to sort out what's what in the castle. I took lots of photos (unusual), particularly of the Celtic cross headstones in the Rock's cemetery. It still received burials into the 90 of last century. We were luck there was a wedding in progress while we were there between a Sydney Ozzie and a local lass from Cashel.
