Adelaide airport had a sad farewell for us with the girls in tears and Ava (our grand daughter) wanting to come with us. The realization of the length of our intended journey hit with a bang and I almost wanted to turn around and go home.
Malaysian Airlines hostesses and stewards were great. We had a comfortable 7 hour flight with great seats and one spare seat between us.
We crashed in Kuala Lumpur and slept like two spoons in a drawer at the Airport Hotel, Pan Pacific. The flight control tower with it's manicured lawns and lush grounds was lovely to look at over breakfast but we were glad we weren't out there in the heat.
The cramped seating arrangements on the 13 hour leg from KL to Heathrow was another story and although Des and I weren't tired, we were stiff and looking forward to a walk in the fresh air. We were treated to a spectacular lightening storm over Turkmenistan with a twinge of fear of it hitting the aeroplane. Fortunately the plane landed safely at 6pm on time.
