I'm back in Jamaica. My arrival marks the 6 month anniversary of my arrival to Jamaica. I can't believe I've been here for 6 months and at my site for 4 months.

I remember saying in a previous entry that I would miss Jamaica while I was home, well I didn't think about it enough to miss it. I had a great visit at home, spending the holidays with my family, a short hiatus to Houghton, seeing dear friends, the list goes on. When it came time to leave, I was actually hesitant, not looking forward to going back. Honestly, I had become comfortable at home, but I can't live at home forever no matter the circumstances, so it's back to reality for me.

As the plane approached Montego Bay, I saw the sun, the blue water, and knew that it was warm down there. I need to appreciate this experience more, not many people have the opportunity to live on a Caribbean Island.

Anyway, initially it felt strange to be back. Nothing had changed but it seemed like I had been away for longer than 2 and a half weeks. When I got home, I spent some time unpacking and reacquainting myself. My roommate had put up a "welcome back jen" sign, and that put a smile on my face. I stopped by the office to say hello, and it was good to see familiar faces, and my colleagues were glad to see me.

My first day back to work was not easy. My momentum was low and I had a hard time settling back into work. I'm sure it will take a couple of days to readjust and resettle. I've received some advice and perspective from friends and family, which has helped the process. It is more difficult than I thought it would be.

I just wanted to let you all know that I'm back. I hope that you are all well.
