Next stop was San Diego where we stayed in the Gaslamp Quarter which is an awesome area - lots of restaurants and bars and live jazz and blues. The hostel was good fun too - pumped music through the corridors all day and free all-you-can-eat pancakes in the mornings... which by the way I am SO over by now!! Who would have ever thought you could get sick of pancakes?!
Spent most of our days doin all the touristy things - the Zoo, Wild Animal Park and Seaworld.
Zoo highlights were an albino python, the sexy ponchos we bought when it started raining and best of all... the two-headed snake!! Still don't get how that works... like does it have two brains or what? Cos the two heads seemed to keep wanting to go in opposite directions. Yeah I dunno.
I absolutely loved Seaworld! Got a good mix of rides, displays and shows - the dolphin and orca whale shows were amazing - and the animals did a good job of soaking the crowd. The orcas were huge and we saw them doing flips and taking the trainers for rides etc. Even better though... later on when we were looking at them through the underwater viewing glass we saw two of the killer whales having wild killer whale sex hahaha now that was entertaining!! I'll say no more.
The Wild Animal Park was also pretty cool, lotsa interesting animals and an elephant show. Apparently it would have taken us like 3 hours to catch public transport there so instead we hired a bargain car for the day... our first right-hand-side driving experience hehe. The driving rules here mess with my head man, like you can turn right on a red light!?! And everything in the car's backtofront... we weren't brave enough to hire a manual it's confusing enough without having to think about doing the gear stick with your right hand. Hehe but Nic drove well and we managed to make it through that experience alive =)
