We broke our fast at The Roadkill Cafe in Seligman, Arizona - scrambled egg with chorizo, hashed potato and refried beans. Bottomless coffee. We waited a loooong time for our food. I picked up some brain-teasing games for my sons and daughter as Route 66 memento's, then were on the road again through Arizona to Kingman.

On the way we stopped at Peach Springs to explore the Grand Canyon Caverns, which are 230 feet underground. You can stay down there for $800 a double. We loved it, and wished we could afford to stay there. Above ground was a gift shop worth exploration and outside a selection of old cars to drool over, as always it seems.
In Kingman we used the WiFi at Macca's to book The Quad in Vegas, then checked out the Mojave Museum of History & Arts - it gave a really good sense of the history of this region and increased our growing fascination with Olive Oatman, the woman who was captured at age 14 in 1851 by a Native American tribe

Shell bought a book about her from the gift shop. After turning off towards Vegas on Hwy 93 we realised that we would be passing Hoover Dam, so stopping to do the walk over the new bridge was a must. Last time I was here I only looked up at it from underneath.

Once at The Quad it was a nightmare to check in, we waited in a line for 15 minutes and then had to leave the desk and pay for internet usage to check our email for the booking reference number when they didn't have the booking, then after all that the number was exactly the same as the confirmation given on the Expedia site, which we'd already given them! Sooooo frustrating. Finally getting upstairs to our rooms Shell and Rich's room was still in disarray from the previous guests and reeked of cigarette smoke. Oh.My.God.

Eventually we were all settled in and unpacked, so set off for a walk, checking out The Venetian and having food and drinks at Stripburger. After more walking we got scammed into Senor Frogs with the promise of a free drink. When the barperson insisted I pay for the round I just left the drinks on the bar and said let's go.....in the lift on the way down a guy in the lift with us heard us talking about the scam and said Hey I own this club, that's not ok - let me buy you a round! We accepted this gracious offer and afterwards watched the Sirens show at Treasure Island before buying the obligatory massive cocktails to carry around with us. I drank only half of mine before I could have gone to sleep right where I was standing.
