Where I stayed
Hotel Annapurna, Lake Side
Brenden had a strum, to their delight. Vishnu is 17 and Buhnu is 16 and our chef.
We'd been sitting down for about half an hour when two young english people arrived and sat down to chat, and the power went out. Candles were lit and the frenzied sounds of chopping and sizzling continued unabated, delicious aromas wafting........our eagerly anticipated momos were served about 15 minutes later - they were magnificent! Yummy, spicey veg. Both boys are studying hotel management.
Hotel Mandala, Pokhara
Elated when I caught my first glimpse of the mountains, peaks lifting regally above the clouds! We had to duck our heads to get to our seats in the 12 seater plane that took us from Kat to Pokhara. It's expensive ($90) if you're a backpacker but everyone should fly this route at least once.
And what a pleasure to arrive in Pokhara, exit the airport and stroll up to the lone taxi waiting. Lone as in single, alone, by himself without company. He quoted us R300 to take us to our hotel and stopped at an atm on the way. We are only 2 minute's walk from the lake!
There are three white rabbits hopping around the garden. This place has a nice energy.
