Greetings from Washington D.C.:

After the Bonnaroo Festival, we stayed at Jenn's cousin Aimee's house in Alexandria, VA. Congratulations to Aimee and Marc and their son Bailey on their new baby girl Sydney. We were also lucky enough to see Jenn's Grammy before leaving Aimee and Marc's house. The next morning Jenn, Grammy, and Bailey planted tomatos in the garden.

We spent one day with our friend Virgina as she showed us around her neighborhood and the nearby Washington Zoo. We had fun with Virginia as she guided us through the zoo. There were a lot animals, even a singing dog. We all tried to get the dog to sing for us, but it just looked at the three of us singing in our best doggie impersonations. Our favorite animal to see was of course the Tiger. They are so beautiful and dangerous and unfortunately endangered.

Later that night, we went to see more of Jenn's cousins, Larry, Hourya, and their son Alex. We ate Morrocan chicken and had a great time hanging out with them. We laughed and laughed as we exchanged stories and these are the memories we will cherish.

The next day we went to the Capital Building and met up with our friend, Michele, who works for a New York congressman Eliot Engel, House of Representative, for a tour. It was interesting to see where our laws get made. Under the main dome of the Capital was a large round room filled with statues, paintings, and a big frescoe on the dome's ceiling depicting some past presidential figures. We later had lunch in the Mall in front of the Lincoln Memorial. On the Mall grounds, a festival was going on to commemorate the meeting of various different cultures along a historic trading route called the silk road. Afterwards, we took a nap under a big shady tree. Then we went to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. They really need to update the exhibits, because nothing has changed since I went there about 14 years ago. When we arrived back at Aimee's house, a bar-b-q was just beginning. Marc's two older brothers, Don and Pete and his cousin Mike, along with their wives and kids had arrived from out of state and the partying continued past midnight.

The following day, we went to the Hirshhorn Museum to look at works of art including photos, paintings, and sculptures. We then walked many miles to all of the surrounding memorials (Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Korean War, and the Vietnam War memorials.) After we could not walk another step, we jumped into a cab and went into Georgetown to grab a bite to eat at Mr. Smith's. The food was good and after getting our second wind, we took the train to a movie theater and saw Minority Report. Another late night for our weary travelers.

We are totally enjoying our adventures together even though we are going through states at a rabbit's pace. Thank you for all of your emails and telephone calls, because it makes us happy to hear from all the friends we miss.

Live it up!

Smiles for miles!

Dave & Jenn
