Traveled about 3 hours to a small town called Spivey's Corner to go to the National Hollerin' Contest. The contestants from past contests have appeared on national morning talk shows and radio shows. Now, they ain't doing no pig call or anything like that. Hollerin', we learned, is a form of communication used by people working out in the fields before the invention of cell phones, walkie talkies, and beepers. There is a holler for help I'm lost, good morning neighbor I'm feeling just fine, and one for dinner is ready. The contest was broken into juvenile, women's, and men's contests. At the end, all of the winners came together for a group holler followed by a hollerin' Amazing Grace. You just can't get this kind of entertainment anywhere else. Yee haaa hooo hooo hooo.
