Greetings from North Carolina.
Charlotte - We went to the Levine Museum to learn about Charlotte's history. We saw a movie "From Cotton to Skyscrapers" and saw a lot of antiques. We also tried on some the clothing they wore during the 20's and 30's. Followed by a lunch picnic in the Memorial Park. We became a little home sick when we saw people coming out of their offices for their lunch break and we thought of you all. Blue Ridge Parkway - Linville Caverns was a guided tour into a cave that was once used by soldiers to hide ouot in during the American Revolution. However, the smoke from their fires came up through cracks in the cave which gave away their location and led to their arrest.
Linville Gorge and Linville Falls - Met a nice park ranger in the information booth who kept on insisting that we try the sugar candy sitting on the counter. It was really good and one flavor was called something like Hogthorn. Grandfather Mountain - Steep hiking up the mountain to the mile high suspension bridge. Once we got to the other side of the bridge, we climbed all over the mountain top. Note, there were no guard rails, safety nets, or parents to tell us that we could fall to our death if we were not careful. It was very windy up there and we had a blast looking at the mountain range leading into and past the horizon. Hickory - Every Friday night they have a new band playing at an outside arena. Jenn says it is a lot like Clematis at Night in West Palm. It was fun and the calypso band seemed a little out of place but we enjoyed the music. Ate at the Old Hickory Brewery, where the local beer was pretty good. They had a red that was so crisp that there was absolutly no after taste.
