Our morning was spent teaching at the Middle/Junior School. The lesson's topics were carrier pigeons and messages. They became the "telephone" between a mechanic's two garages. After going over words and phrases they might not be familiar with, we played the "Telephone" game where you pass a message from person to person to see if the message stays intact. Surprisingly, they knew of the game. We found that the students liked to sneak a peek at the story to remind them of words and phrases. It was necessary to police them carefully! :-) In one of Mr. O's classes, he finally gave them a message that had nothing to do with the story, "Your teacher is a pigeon." He had a great time watching their reactions as they passed the message over and over
We worked on lessons and took our usual naps in the afternoon. Mr. O finally was able use iTunes to download and rent a movie. He looks forward to seeing it when he has a free afternoon or evening. Maybe now he can get caught up on the movies that he's missed! Isn't technology great? Ms. Long has made a new friend at a local video store. The selection of English movies isn't very large, so he has ordered a few movies for her that she wrote down for him. The first order was successful! We will see about the second???
Dinner had a new and welcomed food...bananas! We had the first bananas since we'd come to Nanxi. We were not sure if they were locally grown, but it didn't matter. They tasted soooooooo good! The evening singing practice was in a new location on the high school campus. A combo of two keyboards and drums was added to accompany our songs. It made a big difference. We hope to have someone use our FLIP camera to videotape our performance on Friday night and share it with you.
