Long long long roads
Entry 33 of 54 | show all | print this entry |
The drive from Tennant Creek to Mount Isa just inside the Queensland border is long and flat and all that greats you at the other end is a huge mining town - it was hard work but it was good to be heading towards the east coast. We free camped at a campsite in the bush for the night - campfire jacket potatoes and chilli courtesy of Bushman Rees kept us warm yum! We befriended a couple who's 4WD had broken down in the bush and had walked to the campsite for help - thankfully they were normal and slept by the fire whilst we hid in the van with the doors well and truly locked! Drove them back to Mount Isa again before heading east towards Townsville which was still a massive 900km away.
