After a few very hot days in Darwin (regular refreshment required) we headed off towards Kakadu National Park to experience some of the "real" top end. No trip up here would be complete without the obligatory crocodile spotting and billabong trek so we spent the next few days getting to know Australia Crocodile Dundee style.
On the way over to Kakadu we stopped for a croc jumping tour aboard a very safe tin boat (well the sides were pretty high) - it was an amazing trip with Croc's approaching the boat and then literally coming straight up out of the water. I'd like to say I've got some amazing photos to show you but my camera gave up on us on the way over (it's terminal) - thankfully Jonathan "Spielberg" Rees was standing by with his trusty camcorder and got it all on tape (the final version is still in the editing suite - you'll be amazed at the sound their jaws make!)
Kakadu is a beautiful place, it has two sides - one very wet, the other very dry - we were here for the latter so were blessed with amazing sunsets, the odd bush fire and amazing bird-life. Jon & I were both amazed by the rock formations and the Aboriginal art and watching the sunset over the billabong will be a memory we both hold for a long time.
Heading south to Katherine to check out the gorge.
