Today I participated in the Sanctuary for Families Courtroom Advocacy Program in the Bronx Family Court. We were paired with a woman who was appearing in court to seek an order of protection against a batterer. As chaotic as the court was, this was a great experience and I was able to succeed in getting and order for our client as well as having her placed in a shelter and get an arrest warrant for her batterer. This was also my first adventure into the Bronx for the summer, which was intersting as well!

Today a building at 62nd and Madison literally collapsed from an intentional gas leak explosion. This was only about one block from our office building! apparantly some guy wanted to spite his wife so she couldn't get the building in their divorce. Weird.
