Entry 8 of 112 | show all | print this entry

Today was my big interview for a legal intern position at the same prestigious top-3 law Japanese firm that Chris visited yesterday. We departed early again as it takes a bit to get there. Luckily there are train stations literally on the front plaza of the building- but we have yet to find the correct exit to get to that exit from within the train! (Every train station in Tokyo seems to have 20 or more exits networked by an extensive underground tunnel system. One exit from Tokyo station could be almost 1/2 mile away from another exit so you have to know where you want to exit or you may surface and be totally lost!) After arriving early I shopped around the little shops within the building. It seems that most big office buildings around here have about 50 shops and restaurants with entire floors dedicated to shopping and eating! When it was time I went up and was seated in a conference room. After about 10 minutes I was joined by 6 attorneys- all to interview me at once! It went very well (I hope- I am always worried I am making a faux pax!) They conferred and offered me the position right away- very exciting! I will work 20 hours per week at a very generous compensation and will share an office with an associate and a partner. I will  their only intern (pressure)! I met Chris back at the Starbucks and we subway-ed it back (After some of the usually getting lost and utter confusion) to school. We hit up a noodle shop that we hadn't tried yet which was Elvis and Harley-Davidson themed, very amusing.AFter our classes around 8 Chris was craving some good old fashioned pizza and we went to the place our cabbie from last night recommended called Napoleon 1900 a few doors from our place. The pizza was amsll, super thin, and floppy and had a ton of cheese but its been weeks since we had cheese and it was good! We also split some kind of small spicy chicken (this place was expensive for a pzizza joint but we decided we were celebrating the end of the "vacation" phase ans the beginning of the "work" phase) and we sat in our favorite neigborhood hangout (without name that we can discern) for a bit. Off to bed! ...

Congratulations! A healthy compensation is always helpful. Send me Chris's resume. I completely forgot to ask for it.

Congrats on the job (reply)

Or rather congrats on snatching Chris' job. I love Elvis' Noodles, ain't he cool - and he gives refils for 100 yen.
