Trip End
??? ??, 2009
Sorry it's been so long since I've written. I've been in the north in Srinagar in the Kashmir region, where marijuana grows in the wild! The first few days I stayed at Imran's house, the guy I met in Delhi that grew up in Seattle.
The day I got here a strike started in the region over land that was given to the Kashmiri people but now India wants it back. There have been curfews just about everyday, which means no one can leave, shops are closed, and they've closed off the highway for supplies to come and go.
After a couple days in the house I moved into a houseboat on the lake. It's not the main lake where most tourists stay, this one is even more secluded. The houseboat is incredible, made of hand carved walnut wood with four bedrooms.
The first morning I went to the morning vegetable market where about 20-30 shikaras (canoes) gather to sell their vegetables to others.
One day I walked to the other side of the lake where there is a hill with a fort on top. The actual fort is closed but halfway up the hill there's a mosque.
I've been here a week now and I've just been hanging with other travelers all day, reading, relaxing, swimming, etc. The weather is perfect here! Such a nice retreat from the heat and humidity of Delhi and Rajasthan.
One day the houseboat owner another traveler and I went to one of the villages to visit a friend.
She's not in any of the pictures, but there was an older woman that invited me to stay with her for a week or two. When she found out that I'm a teacher she said that I could work with her son that teaches at the village school. We're looking into making this happen.
Once again, sorry I've been slacking with my blog and sorry this one isn't very exciting. I'll be in touch hopefully with more excitement to share.
Keep in touch...

Great!
I think it's interesting. Let me know about teaching in a different culture.
