Arrived safely in London yesterday morning. Flight was uneventful to say the least and I got basically no sleep. Met Matula at the hostel and we set off to explore London. Started in Notting Hill. Cute area, but I imagined Portobello Road to be a busy street market like in the movie Notting Hill. We then walked to Hyde Park where Princess Diana lived for some time. It's a beautiful park with a couple lakes, a "fountain", really just a stream, dedicated to the late princess. Supposedly Central Park was designed based on Hyde Park, it really is a lovely place to hang out, have a picnic, play some football, etc. There was a music festival taking place there in the next couple of days. Jay Z was headlining last night, but for £40 ($80) it was out of our budget. We then decided to go pub hopping. Had a hard time finding a chill spot to have some pints. We started in Soho, but that was more of a nicer cocktail area. Then we walked over to Covent Garden where we definitely felt more at home. Loving the tube! It's so easy to get around the city. And compared to the CTA it is SO clean, haven't seen a rat yet, and a very smooth ride. Today we're going to be tourists and check out the obligatory Westminster area. I'll write again soon. Hope all is well with everyone. Cheers!

Love,
Jen

I REMEMBER
Jen,

Is great to hear from you, of course tell Matula I said Hi. I visited London last year and your blog brings back great memories. Princess Diana memorial is very peaceful. I was told that all the of material used was top notch. It will be great for you to take the Soul Tour - a tour that highlight Richard Wright and Josephine Baker stay in London. There is also the oldest soul food restaurant there - the food was ok but if the owner is there, he will share great history stories and there are great pictures displayed.

Stay safe. Angel
