Hello friends and family,

It's that time of year again for me to embark on a new adventure.  This summer I'm traveling through Indonesia for 7 weeks.  Because of the incredible response I received from my previous two blogs, I've decided to continue the tradition in sharing my thoughts, experiences, and pictures with you here.

I dropped Nisha off at her summer home in East Rogers Park, Chicago this afternoon where she will be vacationing with her summer family :)  Tomorrow I leave for Florida to visit my parents, brother, sister-in-law, and 2 year old nephew (woohoo!).  Then I'm back in Chicago for a couple of days then I'm off to Indonesia!!
Why Indonesia?   They have strong culture and traditions, and from what I've heard extremely friendly people, amazing diving, and really good food!

Indonesia also has the largest Muslim population in the world.  I'm not a religious person, but I am fascinated by religion and spirituality.  I spent a summer in Egypt and found the Islamic culture to be extremely challenging for me as a woman by forcing me to analyze my beliefs on gender equality.  I guess I'm looking for a challenge again.

Please feel free to email me any questions, comments, complaints, and suggestions you may have regarding my blog or my travels.  I look forward to hearing from you over the summer!

We are looking forward to following your travels via the blog. Aaron & I read your entry this morning. Have to tell you that Nisha was SOOOO excited to see Mike when he got home last night. He was baby talking her and she just went crazy with excitement :-) We played ball at the tennis courts last night. Have fun in Florida and we'll keep an eye out for your next post.

Hi Jen, as somebody who lived in that country for several years, I can assure you based on my first hand experience that you'll find Indonesia is much different than most Arabic country though it has muslim majority. You'll see in Jakarta a lot of women do not wear headscarf and work in the office, just like their male counterparts!
