(often there were 2 lifts available to those who wished to descend, yet only one for people going UP. Hmmmmmmm. Once when we'd been waiting in the elevator queue we heard the dulcet tones of an Orstrayan and had a brief exchange; he was in Vegas for a photography conference and when he got into the lift ahead of us he shouted aussie aussie aussie as the doors closed! We of course shouted oi oi oi! right back)
we were as always, distracted by the impersonators singing in the casino. Bette Midler was my favourite. We did eventually make it across the road to The Bellagio to pick up our car though, and a lovely silver & black beauty she was!
Off we went on Hwy 215 East to Hoover Dam, stopping for our first coffee on the way
It really is an amazing feat of engineering and held my interest much longer than I expected, for that reason. Parts of the Dam are aesthetically pleasing, too.The drive was lovely and we caught a glimpse of Lake Mead as well.
Back on Hwy 215 we shot past Las Vegas heading East to Red Rock Canyon. We went for a meander up the hill and took some photo's, but didn't spend all that long there as it was going to get dark soon and was very cold.
After Red Rock we stopped in a shopping Centre with a Borders and looked at books for an hour before heading back to Vegas.
We ate at the Korean restaurant in the hotel tonight - to get to the escalators we had to fight our way through crowds of people clamoring for Human Nature to sign their stuff. Ho hum.
Tomorrow we pick up our everyday, average car for the long haul to New Orleans. Next stop Page, Arizona.
