We were taken across the road and up the driveway in a mini-bus, and given headphones for the audio part of the tour as we boarded. Our platinum tour included the museum, the two planes, the collection of his cars & bikes, Graceland and an exhibit of stuff from the '68 Comeback Special.
Elvis supported a stack of charities and community organisations, which I didn't know.
Wandering around the trophy room brought back memories of the Friday night Elvis movies when I was a kid. In this room are all the movie posters, costumes, awards and memorabilia.
Checking out the Lisa-Marie was interesting; again, it was comfortable and functional but not at all flashy. Elvis was a big reader, and also loved to watch Monty Python video's in the air.
After just over 5 hours of Elvis we headed off around 4.30pm for Louisiana, getting to St Vincents Guest House about 11.30.
I loved Hwy 55 South, it was a great road to drive but a bummer that we crossed the 26 mile bridge in the dark.
Stopping at Macca's somewhere in Mississippi we find purple, green and gold decorations everywhere. What team is that? I ask.....Huh. It's Mardi Gras, I'm told.
