One of the things travelling has taught us is that everyone is an assett. As such, if you take the time to talk to people it is often very rewarding. I can't begin to tell you the number of offers we've had having barely met some people for 5 mintes before they say 'well streuth me old cobbers you must come over to our place, hell why not stay a few days?' ok thank you mr axe murdering pant sniffing weirdo that's very kind. Lucky for us the last person to offer us free and friendly accommodation was a young dreadlocked dude called Dely we originally met in Darwin, again in Broome and once more at the parklife festival. So off to Dely's it was, we had no idea what to expect but his text message should have given us some indication when he said 'sure guys come & stay although its a bit of a zoo here'.
It wasn't long before we settled in to Dely's house, which apart from a funky mould growing in the bathroom sink, the odd smell of something long deceased everytime the fridge was opened and the presence of a random drunk person face planted on their sofa on any given day of the week that ended in day, it was all very nice. Dely's flatmates Adam & Chris O were very hospitable offering us food, beer, weed, more weed and...a bit more weed. We all seemed to become friends very quickly, which may be due to us all being very funny and charming, and possibly strengthened by the amount of dropped weed eminating from the carpet (that was weed coloured). We spent our first two weeks looking for jobs and houses. Afterall we didn't want to outstay our welcome at the weed den. Why? you may ask, well whilst our budget could have afforded a small amount of columbia's finest greenery (which we didn't because we are law abiding citizens who don't want to be deported for running an illegal marijuana farm) we simply couldn't afford the 5 kilo bags of m&ms, the 1000lb bags of crisps and the 13 happy meals a day that is required as your diet when your day starts at 8am, with a bong for breakfast, a bong for lunch and a healthy nutricious delicious bong for dinner. Big love to those guys who made us feel very welcome and part of their Big Brother House culture. We evicted ourselves without going to the public vote and Anna and Tracy found themselves the new housemates. Happy days.
