Having swung by the outskirts of brisbane (without stopping or collecting $100) we found ourselves in the middle of the glass mountains which were truly amazing. They were made up of the old volcanic rim and single pillars of rock monuments stood carpeted in lush thick foliage. It was just like stepping into a scene of jurassic park (and with the doddery weird old people we encountered at the local campsite this was made even more believable). It was most excellent to see our first wild kangaroos mooching about in the surrounding fields at sundown.nic nic... what's that skippy... steve irwin's zoo is only 15 minutes away?
With such news we made a trip to australia zoo top of our agenda for the morning. We both really enjoyed the home of the "crocodile hunter" and felt we were now experts in koala trivia although we did miss out on walking a wombat. surely no trip to a zoo is complete without a wombat walk! We saw the famous croc show, hung out with the roos (as in you could lie next to them if they were chilling), learnt lots about sssssssssssssssnakesssssss and generally enjoyed the atmosphere. no matter what your opinion of steve is, he did lots of incredible work to promote awareness of these animals and our need to understand them. Good on you stevo.RIP.
