After Taupo we went to River Valley which was a really cool little place at the bottom of a valley.  The hostel was really nice and all the people from the bus stayed in one huge room which was fun! We only stayed there for one night but the scenery was so pretty.

The next day we went on to Wellington which is a really nice city, although really windy.  We went to the museum there which was good and just wandered around.  A few people from our bus left that night so we went on a big night out.  The next day we had the ferry crossing which is appariently one of the roughest crossings to go on, so I was feeling a bit delicate for it, but it wasn't too bad at all and i slept most of the way through it.  We went to Picton and then to Nelson from Wellington.  We didnt do a great deal there, but on the way to all of these places the bus stops and thay make you go out on walks, and most of them are really pretty.  We went on this one walk where there were loads of seals which were really cool to see, but it took a while to see them as they hide really well in the rocks!  We also went to a place and saw some blowholes (?!).  Also went to the mirror lake which was so pretty, but because it was later in the day and the lake wasnt so still it wasnt a proper mirror image which was a shame.
We went to Westport where we went to the Poo pub for the Poo party.  They make everyone dress up and our theme was geeks and nerds.  Was a good night.

From the Westport we stopped at the bushmans centre where they tell you how they catch and kill deers and other animals.  I didnt really enjoy it.  We watched a film where they showed you people jumping out of helicopters and jumping on deers.

We then headed to Franz Joseph which was so pretty! You can see the mountains from the town.  I did the glacier hike which was a killer!! I have never ached so much! In total it was a 7 mile hike.  The first half and hour was the worst as you were just going up hill, then you had to climb up and down the glaciers which was really cool and squeeze through the tightest tunnels of ice.  Was really good and really glad I did it, but I don't think I could ever do it again!  The views from the top were pretty amazing, and  it wasnt as cold as I thought it would be.  They kit you out in full waterproof clothes, but it got so hot at one point everyone was stripping off! They give you a little pick axe as well so I had fun hacking away at the ice!

I am now in Wanaka which is so beautiful.  If there was anywhere in NZ that I would live it would be here.  There is a huge lake with the mountains in the background.  It is just amazing.  We are staying here for an extra day and I went on a bike ride this morning.  I dont think I have ever done this much exercise in my life!!

Tomorrow we are off to Queenstown which is meant to be the party/ adreniline place of NZ so should have a really good time.....!
