After an overnight bus to the city of Neuquen, we jumped on another bus to make the 6 hour drive to San Martin de los Andes. Just getting here is quite scenic and the town itself appears as if it was transported here from Switzerland. All the buildings just have "that look". The town is quite pleasant and we found an awesome pizza and wine restaurant just outside town our first night here. Joining Yngve and I for dinner was Clare, a girl from South Africa who's been traveling longer than me (about 37 months), and a local chef we met at our hostel who recommended we come here ... then actually drove us here in his car. Nice!
The next day, we rented mountain bikes to ride one of the local scenic tourist circuits. Unfortunately, to get to the best view points, this means lots of uphill. That sucked! However, I have now moved "get in shape again" higher up on my things to do when I get back home list so that it has equal priority to "get my crap out of Todd's basement" and "get a job you professional bum". Which reminds me... I still don't know what my dad has been putting in the "Profession" box when he did my taxes the last two years. I think he was playing with words like Vagabond, Vagrant and Nomad.... my personal favorite to this question, No Thanks!
