Finally, a change of scenery!
My current travel partners and I, Guillermo and Jerome from Spain and France respectively, jumped on an early morning bus for Lençois, a small town 7 hours away from Salvador of about 7000 people making a living from the tourists that come to visit the local national park, Chapada Diamantina. The town alone is pretty nice and has several natural attractions without straying too far from the center. So that´s how we spent the first two days; just exploring some local swimming holes, waterfalls, and a natural waterslide. It´s good to be out of the big city, although I´ve recently learned I will have to return to Salvador next week to go to the Federal Police and extend my visa for another 90 days... my first passport stamp expires on the 12th. At the waterslide, we met 3 Israeli girls that were just returning from a 3 day trek in the National park and gave a great recommendation for their guide... so we hired him on the spot to go the next day. The photos here are Lençois and its surroundings. The next entry is our 3 day hike in the national park.
