Well finally, our big social group is starting to go separate ways. I will miss many new friends especially "Team Sweden", a rowdy group of Swedish chix that keep everyone in party mode. Bocas del Toro was a great time and would make a cool vacation spot for those looking to get away for a while. Just make sure you go in the dry season. My efforts to snorkel and do just about anything outside were hampered by a lot of rain.
So I left with my two German buddies for David City and then the small mountain town of Guadalupe where we were able to visit La Amistad National Park .... just before it rained ... again. We were able to hitch a ride back to the main road saving us from getting too wet and headed back to the hotel. Fortunately for me, all the Panama Peace Corps volunteers were having their Thanksgiving dinner here and I was able to eat the semi-warm leftovers for half price. We left again for David City since the rain kept us from hiking to the next town. A nine hour refrigerated bus ride later, we arrived in Panama City.
I feel like I'm in New York. I am staying in a hostel on the 8th floor with a fantastic view of skyscrapers and the city skyline. This place is amazing and the complete opposite of anything else in Central America. There's a lot to do here so I better get started. First stop ... the Panama Canal.
