Volcan Cerro Negro
Entry 50 of 199 | show all | print this entry |

It´s August! When the hell did that happen? Time is going quickly and it seems like I just left the USA a few weeks ago.
My latest guiding trip was to Volcan Cerro Negro, a cinder-ash cone type of volcano. I realize now that every volcano has its own unique "personality" and they are all so different. Cerro Negro is an easy hike over loose ash and small volcanic rock. There is even a section that you can ski down if you wanted to trash a perfectly good set of skis and a local tour company offers just such an experience. We were able to run down the side of the mountain in just minutes while the climb up took about 45 or so. Cerro Negro is still active and last erupted in 1999. The pix are pretty cool so check them out!
