We stopped in St. Ignace, MI and spent the night in a wonderful old brick hotel before visiting the Mackinac Bridge and spending the night on Mackinac Island.
The most famous place on the island is the Mackinac Hotel. The Mackinac Hotel is reported to have the longest porch in the world. We were denied the opportunity to visit the porch by some rather snobby security guards long before we could even approach the hotel entrance.
I guess we were not dressed properly or maybe we did not look like Republicans
Hotel: Inn On Mackinac
Dinner: We both ate Lake Superior white fish at a local restaurant--we can not recall the name. Dinner was excellent, even if we were confined to California chardonnays for wine. The restaurant was unusual in that the bread basket included the most wonderful blueberry muffins.
