Today we went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef.

Setting off at a better time than the Balloon trip we left the Reef Retreat at 7:30 and met a really nice couple Nina and Dan (Australians from Melbourne) .... after the bus took us to Port Douglas we entered the boat named Calypso, you can go snorkeling or diving on this trip but because Lyndsey had never done this before we choose to go snorkeling.

There was a small briefing before we set off and because they said the ride could be a little bit bumpy, Lynds took some sickness tablets (after a bad ferry trip from Jersey to Weymouth) and they worked :) . It would take us 90 minutes to arrive at the first spot to enter the water...and snorkel in water where sharks also swim...I must say I was pretty nervous if I am honest...and Lyndsey was as well...but I tried to be relaxed and not scare her....

Arriving at the first spot we put on our gear and went to the back of the boat....sitting on the back of the boat we could already see big fish swimming around...looking at each other we went into the water....after 10 minutes Lynds was hunting the fish and she was like a fish in the water herself....

She was a little bit insecure on the boat but she told me that she wants to try everything and now she was I was really proud of her snorkeling over the reef...

45 minutes later we had to go back to the boat and went to the next spot were we did some snorkeling and had lunch...heading to our last spot we had some lessons of what can be found in the water and after that we snorkeled until 15:00...

Heading back to the harbor we noticed something was wrong and we thought it was the other boat but Dan spoke to one of the crew and it became clear that it was one of OUR engines that was broken :-) It just meant we had to go a little slower back to port... arriving a little bit later in the harbor we arrived at the Reef Retreat at 17:45....

It was an amazing day and we saw a lot of fish in all different colors...we will defiantly go snorkeling or diving again :-)

And tonight we are invited for our first Aussie barbie with Nina and Dan..

Speak to you soon Lynds and Jeff

Dear Jeff and lynds,
We, Sander, Max and me liked the pictures very much. Sander and Max liked the shark the most and of course NEMO. They both screamed at the same time his name. As we can see you get the most out of this holiday. We wish you a lot of fun on all the trips you probably are going to make.
I have to tell from Sander that yesterday evening he lost his game in the second final so he will miss his match at the stadion of Heerenveen. We wish you all the best. kisses from us.
