Today John, Sandra, Jeff and I decided to take a trip a few miles north to Tarpon Springs.  This is an area where Greeks have historically dived for sponges.  The town has a distinctly Greek flavor.  The minute you step out of your car you can smell the Greek food cooking from the many ethnic restaurants.  We had made reservations for a nature cruise that went from the Tarpon Springs Harbor several miles out to the last undeveloped island in that area.  A naturalist narrated the cruise and spoke of the history of Tarpon Springs and pointed out a variety of birds and several dolphins that followed our boat.  When we got to the island we were given bags to collect shells.  There was an abundance of beautiful shells so despite the fact that the skies had clouded over and the wind was blowing like crazy we scoured the beach to fill our bags.  When we got back on the boat for the return trip to Tarpon Springs we were delighted to find that the crew had left blankets for us to wrap up in on the way back.  You'd think that we northerners would be heartier than that, wouldn't you?

P.S. Right now while writing this to you ,(Sunday), it's 45 degrees, but like true Floridian wannabes we are freezing!  Doesn't take long to get spoiled.
