The first stop was the "Emerald Cave" on Koh Mook. We were dropped outside a cave entrance and then had to swim through a dark tunnel which was 70 metres long. When we arrived at the other side, there was a small beach surrounded by lush green high walls. In the past, this area was used by pirates to store their loot. The ceilings to the entrance of the cave were really neat in that the emerald water reflected against the whitish ceiling.
After swimming back through the tunnel, we boarded our longtail boat and went to 3 other islands in the vicinity where we stopped and snorkeled. The snorkeling was amazing. The water was warm and clear and the reefs were in fair condition. We saw many different colored fish. Some we recognized from prior trips, but there were still fish that we had never seen before.
The highlights of today would be a purple eel, a group of 6 small squid, a lobster, a hermit crab on the reef, a barracuda and a large rockfish. I was a bit scared when Jeff pointed out the school of squid – I thought he was telling me that he saw a shark, but that wasn't the case.
