Hi all,
Horribly sorry at the travelogue slow down. You've expressed your disapproval through less frequent visits to my site and I'll try better to get more content out there for my loyal readers.
I'm in Koh Tao in the gulf of thailand. Koh Tao is a small tropical island along with two other larger and more touristy islands nearby, Koh Samui and Koh Phanang. Picked this one because of the scuba diving and it's supposed to be laid back. My hope was it would feel like Utila honduras a bit and I was right...love it here already. The trip was uneventful but long: a flight from Rome to Bankok which interestingly flew over kabul afganistan. From there I grabbed a cheap connecting flight to Samui and a ferry to Tao, and voila, I'm here.
Backing up a step, I completed my european saga with a brief trip to normandy with my fam and a 24 hour roman invasion with alex jeffers who is hanging out there because why not. Jeffers and I recreated the Vegas all nighter but had a good time doing it. Good times, and more later. Right now I'm off to dinner with two brits I've just met. ALl the news is london right now...ha ha Al Queda, you missed me by a week!! People are in shock and understandably so. The metro of any G8 capital is an easy economic target and a tough one to stop. Interesting times to say the least. I figure this island is as good a place as any to be in the world right now: you'd have to bomb a whole lot of pickup trucks and mopeds to shut down the Koh Tao mass transit system. Ok all, will write in length tomorrow with further details on France, Rome, and the islands.
