The terrain became more mountainous and green as we traveled south through fields and field of sunflowers and grape vines. Wine is plentiful and cheap. The French are the largest consumers of alcohol and have the highest rate of cirrosis or the liver!!
We loved the Pyrenees and being Albertans were surprised at the height. The mountains are somehow softer looking than the Rockies and have little shady villages in deep valleys.
Spent our first night in Spain in a grotty little town called Barbastro and had a most Monty Pythonesque experience trying to make ourselves understood at the hotel we were trying to check into.
In Spain most places don't open up for dinner until 9pm and that is when us old fogeys are starting to feel the call of the mattress. We ate late and suffered indigestion all night long!!
From Barbastro we made our way to Granada where we had designs on seeing the Al Hambra.
Follow on with the pictures and experience the wonders that we did.
